Sale for Harry!

Happy Birthday, Harry! Harry Potter, that is. Yes, I love the Harry Potter books, so much so that I want to celebrate! Today is the first day of my happy birthday/back to school sale! 10% off everything in my TpT store!

Be sure to check out my back to school product “Ready for First (or Kindergarten or Second)”. The activity I am most excited to use is the “To Tell or Not to Tell”. I feel like sometimes kids don’t know what is serious enough to tell about and what isn’t. So, let’s talk about it! During morning meetings, we’ll go through the cards, act them out (who doesn’t love a little early morning improv?), and discuss. Click below to check out the product!

And… click on this fabulous Harry Potter cake to go to my TpT store. Happy shopping!

PS- on the topic of amazing Brits- CONGRATS to the GB men’s gymnastic team for totally rocking it last night! Amazing!!

Throwing a Sale!

So, if you noticed in my All About Me book, I love the Harry Potter series! I think J. K. Rowling is an amazing story teller and every time I read her books, I am completely sucked into her world. One of the things I admire is how much Harry, and everyone else who reads the books, loves his school, Hogwarts. His school is a place of adventure, comfort, and learning. Hopefully, my students feel the same way about our school! So, in honor of Harry’s birthday on July 31st, and the day he finds out he gets to attend Hogwarts, I am having a sale!

Everything in my TpT store will be 10% off from July 31st to Aug 3rd! Check out my back to school product called “Ready for First (or Kindergarten or Second)”. I am excited to use it with my students during our first week back.

Happy Birthday, Harry! Happy going back to school, everyone! Just click the crest to shop my store!

All About Me!

Well, school is here! I start back full time on Wednesday for training. On Friday I will meet some of my students and families at Open House.  Then next Monday the kiddos will be here for good! I can’t believe it’s time to start again. I am very excited!

During open house I will be displaying this great book to introduce myself to the students!

My first year of teaching my mentor was Mrs. Hilderbrand, the creator of this book, and she is an AMAZING teacher! I learned a lot from her in just a short year. She makes the most adorable products on TpT, and this one is a must have!! Click on the cover page to get your own!

And Closer!

Tomorrow we are having a team planning day and I am excited! I can't wait to learn more about Common Core and share some of what I learned about using Writer's Workshop! I am *such a nerd* making a hand out with info about WW to share, so I'll post it here, as well.

I put up a new product on TpT today! Its my back to school unit. I made it for First, but customized it for Kinder or Second, as well! I wanted to make something that focused on having a good attitude. So one of the big activities is To Tell or Not To Tell? You can use it during Morning Meetings to discuss situations that come up every day in class. Students can tell you what they think they should do, and as the teacher, you can guide the discussion about what your expectations are. I am really excited about using it in my classroom! If you want to check it out, just click below.

Well, I am off to get my new school year hair cut! I'm cutting it short! Eeeekk! I think its going to be super cute, but I'm a little nervous.

It's Getting Closer!

Today I was able to see a list of my new students! I thought having an empty classroom was invigorating, but seeing all their sweet faces is making me so happy! I am going to have a LOT of girls this year! I have always had more boys, or a pretty equal amount. But this year is the year of the girl, I guess. Honestly, I am a little nervous. Boys have crazy energy, but I usually find ways to let it go in a good way. Girls are so different! I just hope they will all be friends and stay that way all year.

The classroom clean-up process is, just that, a process! My furniture is set (I'll need an extra desk now since I have more on my list than last year) but now I have to do the little things. The things I may have put off last year. Things that tend to pile up... FILES! Oh, the files. I have a very organized way of keeping them, but I'm horrible about pulling something to be copied and then not putting it back up. I must do better. I think I will just leave the folders out until the original gets back to me and THEN put it back, instead of putting the folder back as soon as I pull something out of it. Does that make sense?

Also, my books are a bit out of control. Some women are addicted to buying shoes, but I am addicted to buying books. Its my mom's fault. She admits it. But I can't stop! I have way too many! But I have categorized them, so now I just need to figure out where to put them. My classroom used to be the art room, so I don't have a closet or anything. I do have some really great shelves and cabinets, but no place set apart for storage. Sometimes it is hard, but it also ensures I don't keep too much junk.

It's been raining ALL WEEK! Which is good because we desperately needed it, and bad because I only have a few days left to lay out and soak up all the vitamin D possible! I'm hoping for some sun next week.

Don't forget about my Pete the Cat giveaway! Over 90 pages of back to school Pete goodness! Click on the picture to comment and enter.

Sad News for Pete

Well, it seems that Pete the Cat items are no longer able to be sold on TpT due to copyright laws! Goodness, noooooo! I am pretty bummed because I love the unit I made. I'm trying to find out if I can edit it a bit and still sell it in a different form. We'll see. So anyone else out there planning on making something, they are taking all Pete items off. :(
I'm going to try to investigate the copyright stuff more. What confuses me is how can people sell the clip art, but we cannot make items and sell them. If anyone has some insight, please share!

And while I'm sad I can't sell this item (I worked so hard on it!), I still want to share it! So I'm going along and singing my song with a giveaway!! I'll be giving away my Pete the Cat unit to 2 lucky winners! Comment below to enter and help spread the word! I'll choose the winners on Monday, July 9. Good luck!!

Pete the Cat Unit and FREEBIE!

My dear husband banned me from school related activities for a whole week. It was very hard, and then very relaxing! But now, I am ready to start planning for this upcoming year. I went to my classroom, and really got inspired by the furniture all in the middle of the room- just waiting to be rearranged! It gave me some good energy! I will hopefully have the furniture all set up and a few other things done this week. Pictures to follow!

The other thing I’ve worked on is my Pete the Cat unit. I love how Pete’s philosophy is “it’s all good”. I try to encourage my students to be “go with the flow” people. So I made a unit to begin the year that focuses on Pete and his great attitude! I’m really excited to share it with you. It includes: Rocking In My School Shoes student book, To Tell or Not to Tell sorting activity, Pieces of Pete for glyphs and other activities, and lots more! Click on the picture to check it out on my TpT site.

I customized it so you can use it for Kindergarten, First, or Second grade. Last year my kiddos LOVED Pete, so I’m sure it will be a success with my next group.

I am so excited, I want to share a freebie with you! This is my tattling rule poster, one for the kids, and some “Did you whine? Goodness, No!” reward cards. Hope you enjoy it and check out the rest of the unit! Just click below to download the Google Doc.
